Functie taken

We are looking for a young professional Sales Engineer for our client Kaak in Terborg. You will be a member of the Kaak Nederland sales team and it will be your responsibility to work collaboratively with the area sales manager and (potential) customers to identify and analyse customer needs and requirements. You will translate those needs and requirements into a suitable system design and solution within the identified commercial and technological boundaries and constraints.


Furthermore, you will work closely with your fellow SE team members, Kaak FPS/Kaak Group co-workers in supporting teams (engineering/project engineering, project management, service, subsidiaries) in order to create a suitable system design and solution translated into a commercial total package. You will be supported by senior SE team members executing your responsibilities.


You will present the proposed solution together with the area sales manager to the customer, further building the relationship and engagement. And helping the customer to make a sound decision as to the most suitable solution and choose in favour of Kaak. You will report to the Sales Business Manager.


Your responsibilities (together with the Sales Engineering team) will be:


  • Identify customer's needs through RFP analysis and collaborative discussions with sales managers and customers;
  • Develop system design based on customer needs, supported by Kaak subject matter experts for complex/major projects and/or solutions;
  • Over time, you should be able to develop a project from inception to final design;
  • Create solution options for technical and functional requirements within the Kaak standards and solution portfolio;
  • Evaluate the designs together with area sales manager, SE team lead, sales business manager based on cost, functionality, business needs and risks;
  • Identify risks and discuss mitigation plans with SE team lead, sales business manager;
  • Convert system design into a lay-out;
  • Calculate the designed system at the appropriate level following Kaak standards, calculation methodology and tooling as well as adopted one way of working within team SE;
  • Supported by sales business manager, compose proposals and support area sales manager with technical presentations to the customer;
  • Over time, work simultaneously on multiple projects;
  • Work according to the sales process structure and governance including usage of templates to ensure an effective sales cycle and proper handover of sales projects to project management;
  • Adapt to “one way of working” within the SE team; applies the SE team tooling a.o. sharepoint, standard quotation text, calculation tools, layout governance and follows applicable rules of engagement.


Since it's a requirement to have an excellent command of the English language, the application process will also be in English.




Functie eisen

We are looking for a candidate with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial and/or Systems Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, or Management Science. It's essential that you are fluent in English and possess the following skills and experience:
  • At least 3 years of experience in a sales engineering role within B2B capital industry;
  • It's preferred that you have intermediate experience with process automation and system design, line controls and mechanical technology and consultative solution sales.
  • Willing to travel 25% of your time domestic/internationally;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills and able to create collaborative customer relationships;
  • Over time you will be able to develop sales acumen and coordinate projects of varying sizes;
  • You are a teamplayer and are able to work effectively in an entrepreneurial international organization, working cross functional, cultural and geography.
